John Elkaney Hudson's Civil War Letters
John Elkaney Hudson served in the 41st Mississippi Volunteers, Co. E/F. Confederate military records show that he was "left sick in McLemore Cove," then reported missing or captured, a few days before his unit fought in the battle of Chickamauga in northern Georgia. Family tradition says he left for home, but he became too sick to continue on the way with his companions, and he apparently died along the way.
John E. Hudson's burial place is unknown. This memorial stone was placed by his descendants in the 1990's, adjacent to his wife's tombstone in Frankston, Anderson County, Texas
